Theresa Borg graduated from both the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts in the early ‘90s. She then went on to play Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera” (Cameron Mackintosh), Cosette in “Les Misérables” (Cameron Mackintosh), Jellylorum/Griddlebone in “Cats” (The Really Useful Company) and Hope in “Anything Goes!” (The Production Company). Opera Australia and Victorian Opera highlights include Musetta in “La Boheme”, Peep Bo in “The Mikado”, Eliza (Cover) for “My Fair Lady”, Pamina and The Queen of the Night for “The Magic Flute Events”, Papaghena in the inaugural Victorian Opera Gala Concert, Mrs Samsa in “Metamorphoses”, Philomele (Cover) in “For the Love of the Nightingale”, Zerbinetta in “Ariadne Auf Naxos” and Angelique in the eponymous opera, for which she was nominated for a Green Room award.
Theresa was delighted to create the role of Emily Dickinson 2 in “Voicing Emily”, an opera devised by Helen Noonan and performed at the Malthouse. In 2014, she played Fosca in “Passion” for Life Like Touring.
Theresa has been a director and writer for Life Like Touring since she founded the company with her partner Anton Berezin, in 1998. With the advent of the Life Like Company in 2014, she has drawn on her long experiences as a professional actor, singer and crafting theatre for children to direct acclaimed productions for the wider musical theatre and opera audience.
Since 2004, Theresa has written and subsequently directed over 20 musicals for families, many of which have toured nationally and internationally. These include “Scooby Doo Live: Musical Mysteries”, “Octonauts Live: Operation Reef Shield”, “Chuggington: The Great Rescue Adventure” and Sesame Street presentation “Elmo’s World” Tour. “Scooby Doo Live: Level Up!” and Sesame Street presentation “Elmo’s Super Fun Hero Adventure” open in 2016. Direction and resident director credits also include “Peppa Pig Live: Treasure Hunt”, “Peppa Pig Live: Big Splash!”, “Yo Gabba Gabba Live!”, “Paw Patrol Live!”
In 2015, she directed an acclaimed production of “La Cenerentola” for Citiopera. In 2016, Theresa envisioned and directed “DISNEY UNDER THE STARS” for Disney and Live Nation alongside musical director Chong Lim and directed a highly acclaimed production of “The Light in the Piazza” for Life Like Touring at Arts Centre Melbourne. Her innovative production of “The Consul” for Gertrude Opera was listed in the top five operas of 2014 by the Herald-Sun.
In 2017, Theresa’s first children’s book “Scooter Witch” was published by London based firm Austin-Macaley.
