OdetteMackenzieHS1Odette MacKenzie has lived on three continents, studied a BA at The University of Melbourne, and has toured extensively has a performer with Redfoot and BYTE (Backyard Theatre Ensemble). In 2014 and 2015 she travelled across Australasia and Europe with BYTE’s critically acclaimed production of “Nightduty”. She is a vocal artist with professional gigs at The Adelaide Cabaret and Fringe Festivals.

In 2017 and early 2017 Odette worked as a performing and vocal artist for the Theatre in Education company Blue Whale Theatre (www.bluewhaletheatre.com). The company’s mission was to provide exciting and engaging dramatic excursions for schools from Early Years to Key Stage 3 in Australia. She toured schools with “A Bright Light in the Darkness”—a living history project—bringing characters to life through the power of theatre and song. She played the part of Catherine McAuley—foundress of The Sisters of Mercy.

Odette has flexible work with the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA, www.ista.co.uk). With ISTA, she toured to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Hong Kong in 2016 with her one-woman show “Mothers and Daughters”. This show focused on the complex relationships between a series of women all bound by the joys and heartbreaks of family.

Odette works as a busker, singing A Cappella Irish Folk music. She has been busking since she was a child, utilising her voice to make a living. While this continues to be an artistic challenge, she finds it both engaging and excitingly unpredictable.
