Biography
Mikel Capriano (Mike Capri) Mike is originally from Perth, Western Australia and has spent a lifetime singing, dancing and acting. He has travelled and lived in different countries from Brazil, throughout Asia, Western Europe, United Kingdom, French Polynesia, New Zealand and all-around Australia. He is multi-national citizen of Europe and Australia and works all around the world.
Mikel is a native English speaker, with an Australian accent but through extensive travel, work in other countries and language studies, he has established a proficiency with British, European, American and other accents.
He has been involved in various events and performances throughout his life. Charismatic, confident but humble, flexible, committed, easy to work with. He loves meeting and working with new people and is always eager to learn something new each day.
As an actor, Mikel values his time on film, stage, in theatre and in musicals, having earned a master’s degree in acting (MA) from Guildford School of Acting (GSA) at the University of Surrey and previously at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), University of Kent. He was also nominated for Best Actor in a Role and Musical at the 2019 Gold Palm Theatre Awards Australia.
Mikel was originally classically trained professionally in classical genres, with French and Italian influences and language as well as singing; Handel, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Opera and similar compositions. From an early age, Mike started singing in gospel choirs and arrangements. Mike has also been the lead singer of various rock and pop bands and has performed at corporate, signature events and cabarets throughout the last 20 years. Niche theme bands have covered and recomposed songs from the 50’s and 60’s through to the modern music of today. He has also been writing lyrics, songs and plays guitar. His writing also carries over into script writing and other creative writing articles.
Mikel is an artist on Spotify, YouTube and Apple with releases of pop and folk music for romantic comedy themed soundtracks.
From an early age Mikel has danced at the highest level in Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue Sequence dancing. He has also performed in floor-shows, cabarets and events representing Australia throughout Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Europe and Asia. Over the years, Mike has partnered dozens of competition dancers and students. He has danced in various styles including Theatrical, Salsa, Bachata, Swing, Lindy-hop, Charleston, Jazz, Rock ’n’ Roll, Hip-hop, Tango and Disco. Additionally, he can accompany anyone who needs a dance partner for any event.
