Kulan Farah is an impassioned and reputable 20-year old actor/filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia. Born in Melbourne and raised in Tasmania, he discovered his love for acting at the age of 8 years old. With a few screen acting workshops under his belt, he would grow up to join React Drama School in Tasmania. He subsequently spent the next four years at React developing his skills in theatre.
Concurrently, during the last years of high school, Kulan took what he had learned from the craft of acting and applied it to filmmaking. He would eventually move back to Melbourne to study film and television at VCA and Swinburne University. Such world-class institutions taught him to being able to write and direct 4 of his own films as well as acting and crewing in countless productions across the beautiful and inspiring city of Melbourne.
By building a prolific, versatile and motivated background in both dramatic performance and technical expertise as well as a strong belief in social and cultural change, Kulan has extended this skill-set to improvisational and sketch comedy. Thereby he became co-creator and actor of a comedy web series, which he did at high school whilst studying for React.
Kulan loves collaborating and working with other like-minded artists who are interested in telling diverse stories that may not have had a chance to have their day in the sun, especially in today’s political climate. Relating to his father’s story of migrating to Australia after fleeing civil war in Somalia, he is committed to bringing these stories in any form—web series, television, film or stage.
