Biography
Austin Keane was born and raised within the province of North Queensland where his love for theatre and acting began early. From a young age he watched his father perform for organisations like NQOMT and Townsville Choral Society in musical theatre shows. Here, he fell in love with the craft and began to dedicate his young life to the fact. From musical theatre the entire way throughout primary and secondary school, and Shakespeare in all his senior drama classes, he loved to perform.
Austin was fortunate enough to receive a role in the 2022’s Mulkadee performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” where he played Peter Quince. He would also go on to assist his high school in getting 2nd Play in the 2022 Senior Eisteddfod for acting, losing to their rivals by only a single mark.
In 2022, Austin was accepted into NIDA’S Diploma for Stage and Screen Performance for the year 2023. However, due to requirements for surgery on a long-endured eye injury, he instead began his NIDA journey in 2024. He was privileged to work alongside acting teachers Garth Holcombe, Michael Sheasby, Mark Gaal and acting coach Les Chantry.
Austin looks forward to continuing his passion for the stage as well as branching out into movies, television and professional musical theatre.
